Another horse was vanned off and euthanized at Churchill Downs on Saturday.According to Churchill Downs spokesperson Darren Rogers, Swanson Lake suffered a significant injury to the left back leg.The injury occurred during Saturday's sixth race and the horse was vanned off about 100 yards past the finish line. Dr. Will Farmer, equine medical director of CDI, examined the injury.After further diagnostics, it was deemed inoperable and the horse was euthanized.This is the ninth horse death at Churchill Downs since the end of April.Three-year-old colt, Rio Moon, died during a race on Sunday, May 14, just about a week before Swanson Lake. Before Rio Moon's death, seven horses died over 10 days during the Spring Meet at Churchill Downs.Two of those happened Saturday, on Derby Day, Saturday, May 6.Below is a timeline of the other deaths, and everything we know about them:
