Legendary Cards coach Denny Crum gets new Hometown Heroes banner in 'ideal location'
Former University of Louisville basketball coach Denny Crum was recognized Saturday as his new Hometown Heroes banner was hung in a place of prominence.
The legendary coach had his banner placed where it makes perfect sense, directly across from where the Cards play all their games so they are always watched over by Crum.
The banner was unveiled in a ceremony on the highly visible Whiskey Row lofts directly across from the KFC Yum! Center, a recognition former U of L players say is well-deserved.
"He brought in a different attitude. They had good coaches here in Louisville, but I think he changed that. He raised the bar," said Charles Jones, former basketball player.
"He would lead you in that way. Put you in a position so you learn how to do some things differently yourself so that then you're maturing as a young person learning how to interact with people and with your teammates," said Lancaster Gordon, former basketball player.
Crum was one of the original honorees from the 20-year-old program whose banner had been removed at its previous location due to construction.
"With the Hometown Heroes 2.0 relaunch of the popular program, we announced our two-fold mission 맥스카지노 honor new Louisville heroes and work to refresh some of Louisville맥스카지노s most iconic Hometown Heroes banners that have come down due to construction or faded with time," said Mike Sheehy, Greater Louisville Pride Foundation's President and one of the founders of the banner program.

He was also named Coach of the Year three times in the 80s as well as Metro Conference Coach of the Year four times.
He led Louisville to 23 NCAA Tournament berths and three 30-win seasons.
The GLPF felt Selection Sunday, when the NCAA Tournament bracket is released, to be the perfect day for the occasion.
"With the tremendous legacy Coach Crum built with the U of L Basketball program, it seemed appropriate to unveil Denny맥스카지노s banners today," Sheehy said.
