Ask Caray: Who is the bronze lady in Cave Hill Cemetery and why is she always holding fresh flowers?
Spanning 296 acres, Cave Hill Cemetery is home to some rich Louisville history.
Colonel Sanders and Muhammad Ali are buried there, and while those graves draw big crowds, there are some other beautiful statues and monuments there that catch your attention.
This week's "Ask Caray" question is about one of those statues.
Who is the bronze lady in Cave Hill Cemetery and why is she always holding fresh flowers?
That bronze statue is Saundra Curry Twist, a model who died at age 39 in a tragic car accident.
The statue was built in 1981, and it features a love letter written by her husband, who wanted a statue that would reflect her beauty and grace.
Almost every day, someone puts fresh flowers in her hands.
For years, Cave Hill Cemetery Director Gwen Mooney says her daughters would place the flowers, but she doesn't know who's doing it now.
But whoever is, Mooney says the cemetery officials enjoy that someone cares enough to do it.
