Man charged in Crystal Rogers case asks for trial to be delayed
One of three men charged in Crystal Rogers' murder is asking for his trial to be delayed.
Steve Lawson, who is charged with tampering with evidence in the case, filed a motion to have his trial postponed.
Lawson is being tried separately from the other two men, his son Joseph Lawson and Brooks Houck. Steve Lawson's trial is scheduled to begin on Feb. 11.
The motion filed on Jan. 3 is asking for his trial to be postponed to allow more time for the defense to go through all of the discovery in the case.
The motion will be heard before Judge Charles Simms III on Thursday.
Steve Lawson is receiving a separate trial after Simms ruled that Houck and Joseph Lawson would suffer undue prejudice if jurors heard Steven Lawson's grand jury testimonies.
Steve Lawson's trial will be held in Bowling Green, with the other two men set to be tried in somewhere in Warren County as well.
Houck is charged with murder, while Joseph Lawson is also facing complicity to murder like his father.
