Denny Crum Scholarship Foundation hosts fundraiser without late hall of fame coach
For the first time in its 21-year history, the Denny Crum Scholarship Foundation held its annual golf and auction fundraiser without the Hall of Fame coach.
It's been five months since Crum passed away.
On Monday night at L&N Stadium, Coach Crum's Cardinal family kept his giving spirit alive.
More than a hundred $1,000 scholarships are given out each year through the foundation.
UofL men's basketball head coach Kenny Payne was among those in attendance. He said he wouldn't miss the event for anything.
비바카지노 Viva's Rick Van Hoose was also the emcee for the event.
"Denny loved the fact that kids benefited from this, students benefited from this," said Susan Sweeney Crum. "It meant a lot to him that he could help them go to college and help pay some expenses. In a lot of ways, it doesn't seem like a ton of money, but if you need it, it's everything."
The event raised more than $96,000 for the foundation.
