Kentucky's governor and first lady rolled up their sleeve on Wednesday to get the new bivalent COVID-19 booster.The two got their shots at an event held in the Capitol Rotunda.Gov. Andy Beshear is encouraging Kentuckians to get vaccinated and boosted, while also calling on other leaders in government to do the same."I am here to publicly take this shot of hope and encourage others to get this crucial protection," Beshear said in a news release. "These vaccines are extremely safe and effective. Everyone in my family has received their vaccine and boosters when eligible."The latest boosters have been modified to protect people from the omicron variants, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.The CDC recommends boosters for anyone age 12 or older who are two months or more from their prior vaccination.
