JCPS schools show support, appreciation for bus drivers
Several Jefferson County Public Schools showed their support and appreciation for bus drivers following a disastrous first day of school.
Bloom, Maupin, and Middletown elementary schools were giving out snacks and refreshments for bus drivers on Friday.
The three schools put up signs outside letting bus drivers know they could stop in for the treats.
They were giving bus drivers bottles of water, chips and granola bars to show their appreciation for them.
Drivers have been out practicing their routes the last two days after there were major issues on the first day of school.
JCPS said that the last student wasn't dropped off until 9:58 p.m. on Wednesday, and some parents said there were issues with children being dropped off at the wrong places.
This prompted JCPS to cancel school on Thursday and Friday.
JCPS superintendent Marty Pollio provided an update on Friday, saying that he hoped schools would be back in session by the middle of next week. He said a decision about when school will resume would be announced on Saturday.
