The Jefferson County Public Schools Board of Education has selected a new superintendent for the district.
The board met in an executive session Thursday evening to discuss the matter.

The board voted 5-2 in favor of beginning contract negotiations with the candidate selected. Taylor Everett was one of the board members who voted against starting contract negotiations.
"We did not all feel the same way. And I think that's actually healthy," said Taylor Everett, JCPS Board Member, "I voted the way that I felt my district and my community that the feedback that I got wanted me to. It is no indication that the person that we are offering can not do the job. I want to be very clear about that."
The two finalists to replace outgoing Superintendent Marty Pollio are H. Brian Yearwood and Ben Shuldiner.
Yearwood has 30 years of experience and was most recently the superintendent of Columbia Public Schools in Missouri. Ben Shuldiner has 25 years of experience and is currently the superintendent of a school district in Lansing, Michigan.
JCPS held two community sessions for students, parents, teachers and leaders to meet with the two candidates.
Feedback from those sessions was taken into consideration by the board in their selection.
JCPS will announce the candidate once negotiations are finalized.
