It's official: JCPS has a new superintendent after contract unanimously approved
It's official: Dr. H. Brian Yearwood is the next superintendent for Jefferson County Public Schools.
The school board voted unanimously in favor of Yearwood's contract.
The contract is a 4-year deal, and includes an annual salary starting at $350,000, with possible increases and contributions to retirement plans.
The board voted 5-2 last week to start contract negotiations, and not long after, a lawmaker leaked that Yearwood was the choice.
Yearwood was one of two finalists chosen to replace Superintendent Marty Pollio, who is leaving soon.
Yearwood has 30 years of experience and was most recently the superintendent of Columbia Public Schools in Missouri.
The district says they were impressed with his commitment to students.
