"It's a wonderful day to come, celebrate adoption, learn about what we do and other organizations, other nonprofits," said Alisa Gray, the president and CEO of the Kentucky Humane Society.
With more than 65 dog and rescue organization vendors, the event offered attendees not only a chance to treat their pets but also an opportunity to support vital animal welfare programs.
"We need to raise $10 million every single year to be able to do all of our mission programs, which include high-volume, low-cost spay and neuter services, and the adoption of about 6,000 animals every single year, including cats, dogs, and horses," Gray said.
Last year's event raised $80,000, and organizers hope to surpass that amount this year. Beyond raising funds, the event offered a chance to collaborate with other nonprofits, showcasing foundations focused on cats and reptiles alongside dogs.
"The more the merrier. We love to collaborate with other nonprofits. There are reptiles here, so that's pretty cool," Gray said.
With every wagging tail, the Kentucky Humane Society continues its mission to make a difference in the lives of animals.
"We hope it's a big fundraiser, very successful, so we can continue to do what we do and save more animals," Gray said.
This annual celebration remains a highlight for pet owners across the community and an essential force in supporting lifesaving programs for animals in need.
