Churchill Downs sets new betting record during 149th Kentucky Derby
Over 150,000 Derby fans were at Churchill Downs on Saturday to witness Mage claim the Garland of Roses at the 149th Kentucky Derby.
Churchill Downs reported that betting this year was the highest of all time on the Derby race, Kentucky Derby Day program and Derby Week races.
All sources wagering on the Kentucky Derby race was a new record of $188.7 million, beating the previous record of $179 million set in 2022.
The Kentucky Day program set a new record of $288.7 million in wagers and Derby Week rose to a record of $412 million.
From the betting to the environment one of the most energetic areas on Derby Day is the infield.
It has a reputation for being a little wilder and less conservative than the Grandstand areas.
