Big change: Louisville vs. Kentucky rivalry game to start off next basketball season for both teams
A date has been set for the annual rivalry matchup between the Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats, and this time, it'll be the first regular season game for both teams.
The two men's basketball teams will meet up on Nov. 11 at the KFC Yum! Center.
Head coach Pat Kelsey is entering his second season with the Cardinals after a historic first year.
Louisville finished second in the Atlantic Coast Conference with an overall record of 27-8 in 2024-25, making its first-ever appearance in an ACC Championship game.
Kentucky also had a great comeback season with its new head coach Mark Pope. The Cats finished 24-12 but had several wins over Top 25 teams and earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. They lost to Tennessee in the Sweet 16.
Normally, the in-state rivalry game is in December.
Kentucky won the last game between the two rivals at Rupp Arena on Dec. 14 by a score of 93-85.
Kentucky leads the series all-time at 40-17.
The teams have met every season except one since 1983. Prior to the 1983 matchup, the teams had not met in the regular season for 62 years.
