St. X alum upsets No. 1 pickleball player in the world; later advances to quarterfinals
A Louisville native and St. Xavier High School alum upset the No. 1 pickleball player in the world Tuesday at the Veolia Atlanta Pickleball Championships.
Alexander Crum, the No. 65 ranked pickleball player in the tournament, beat Frederico Staksrud, of Argentina, two sets to one.
The match took place in the tournament's round of 64.
Crum won a close first set 11-9 before Staksrud evened it up winning the second set 11-5.
The 33-year-old Crum won the tiebreaking set 11-6 to take the match and complete the upset.
