Louisville community pays respects to shooting victims at Old National Bank memorial
The city of Louisville is hurting after five people were killed and several others were injured in a mass shooting downtown.
But as often happens in situations like this, the worst brings out the best in our community.
Five people lost their lives at Old National Bank in downtown Louisville on Monday morning. An employee of the bank opened fire on his co-workers with an AR-15 rifle.
A memorial is growing at the site of the shooting.
Mourners laid flowers and other mementos on the steps of Old National. A church group has placed five crosses in front of the building. Each cross has the name of a victim printed on it. The crosses also have a Sharpie marker attached, so messages of remembrance can be left by those stopping by the pay their respects.
맥스카지노It does hurt my heart, it does,맥스카지노 said Savannah Crawford, who moved to Louisville from Frankfort five years ago.
Crawford said she knew one of the victims of the bank shooting, a man who was treated and released from University of Louisville Hospital on Monday.
맥스카지노I really worried if they were going to be ok. It's scary to think of someone's life going in an instant based off a bullet,맥스카지노 said Crawford, who brought 10 bouquets of flowers to the site of Monday맥스카지노s mass shooting, two bouquets for each victim.
맥스카지노If I can do anything to just give my respects to the individuals who passed, the families who are mourning, I just feel like that's the only way I can do it so far, besides donating to their funeral costs as well,맥스카지노 Crawford told 비바카지노 Viva News.
LaToya Farrell was born and raised in Louisville. Farrell brought her daughters, ages 18 and 12, to Old National Bank to honor the lives lost.
맥스카지노It's something that hits a little closer to home because it's where you're from. I would have never thought, in all the years I've been here, I would witness something like this. Yeah, we hear about it across the globe, but it's a little different when it's from your hometown,맥스카지노 Farrell said.
Her 18-year-old daughter, Bria, is on her way to Xavier University in Cincinnati in the fall.
Bria wanted to pay her respects to bank employee Joshua Barrick, in particular, because he was a Xavier University graduate.
맥스카지노I heard about it this morning. It was kind of eerie when you're going somewhere, when you know somebody, and it happens right here. It's very scary to think about. It could happen at any moment now,맥스카지노 said Bria Farrell.
