17-year-old shot in the head in Valley Station dies
A 17-year-old boy who was shot in Valley Station has died.
The shooting happened around 6 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Bold Forbes Boulevard.
When police arrived, they found the teen boy with a gunshot wound to the head in the parking lot.
He has now been identified as Laith Rajha, of Louisville.
He was hospitalized, and died later on Thursday.
Someone police believe was connected to the shooting, Jamal Sheikh, was arrested later that night on Earl Avenue in the Taylor Berry neighborhood.
LMPD detectives said a video showed a vehicle leaving the scene. Police later found Sheikh driving that vehicle and arrested him.
Ppolice said Sheikh admitted to driving three other people to the apartment complex for the purpose of a "gun transaction," then drove away from the scene.
As of Tuesday, he is charged with first-degree complicity assault, which denotes either direct or indirect involvement, and tampering with physical evidence.
No other arrests have been made.
