The owners of the horse that was ousted from the Kentucky Derby after crossing the finish line first say they will keep fighting to restore him as the winner.
Maximum Security was disqualified last weekend from the 145th Kentucky Derby after stewards decided the horse had impeded the path of the others in the race.
As a result, the No. 2 horse, Country House, was crowned the winner of the Run for the Roses.
On Monday, an appeal on the outcome was filed with the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, but it was swiftly denied. The commission made it clear that there was no right to appeal.
In a statement, Maximum Security's owners, Gary and Mary West, said Thursday they are left to evaluate their legal options.
"We believe that with a just and proper hearing of our case, Maximum Security will be restored as the rightful winner of this year맥스카지노s Kentucky Derby," they said.
They said video of the race "clearly and convincingly" shows that their horse should have won and never should have been disqualified.
They also said they asked to review the footage with stewards, but were denied.
The Wests said any further course of action will be announced.
