A man died in a Meade County crash Saturday night, according to Kentucky State Police.Around 11:15 p.m., KSP responded to a two-vehicle collision near the 4100 block of Payneville Road.Troopers determined that Robert Eldridge, 20, of Battletown, was driving a car west on KY-144 when he tried to pass another vehicle before striking a pickup truck head on in the eastbound lane.Eldridge was pronounced dead at the scene by the Meade County Coroner's Office.A passenger in Eldridge's vehicle and the driver of the pickup truck were flown to UofL Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.KSP said the pickup truck's driver is a 44-year-old man from Louisville. There is no word on their current conditions at this time. The affected portion of KY-144 was closed for several hours to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision.
