A bipartisan group of Louisville Metro Council members voiced their support for legislation to legalize medical marijuana. Ten council members signed a resolution Monday urging lawmakers to pass House Bill 166, which is one of five marijuana-related bills before the legislature. "Medical cannabis can help many of our constituents," primary sponsor Bill Hollandersaid. "I am pleased that so many of my colleagues agree that we should ask the Kentucky General Assembly to take action to help them."The resolution points to the potential benefits marijuana could have on people suffering from chronic illnesses, pain or post-traumatic stress disorder.The resolution also cites a study that found opioid deaths have fallen by 25 percent in the 29 states that have already legalized medical marijuana.
