What's the future of Mid-City Mall in Highlands? Community weighs in
An iconic piece of Louisville property has an uncertain future, but residents are beginning to give feedback for what they would like to see done with the property.
Mid-City Mall in the Highlands went up for sale in November.
The current anchor tenants include Valu Market, Baxter Avenue Theater, the Highlands-Shelby Park Library and the Caravan Comedy Club.
On Friday, Metro Councilman Ben Reno-Weber hosted a listening session with the community to see how they want the 11-acre space reimagined.
Reno-Weber says what happens to the property will depend on who buys it.
비바카지노 Viva spoke to a business owner at the meeting who said she hopes there could be housing developed on the property, which would bring more traffic to local stores.
"I think, creating a high-density space that, creates that atmosphere and gives more people the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful neighborhood would be absolutely incredible," said Stephanie Reilly, owner of Surprise Lily Boutique.
The assessed value of the property is around $11 million, though Reno-Weber believes it will sell for more.
There will be another listening session for community members on June 17 at 6 p.m. That will also be held at the Highlands-Shelby Park Library.
