Oldham County residents say they're on alert after recent car break-ins
Residents in Oldham County say they're on alert after some recent break-ins in the area.
Surveillance video outside one home in Oldham County captures a group going from one car to the next in Crestwood early Tuesday morning.
While the owners say nothing was taken from their cars, a few miles away in La Grange it was a different story.
Jason Gregory says he woke up Tuesday to find the window of his car shattered and ignition busted.
"You can kind of see where they ripped the console out trying to start it without the key," Gregory said.
He says someone tried to steal his car.
"It definitely shook my family up, my wife and my niece and I've got kids that live here also and it's disturbing really," he said.
His wife said they didn't take much, thankfully.
"Left the AirPods but took the dollar. Yeah. Why would you take the dollar?" she said.
While the Gregorys say their car door was locked, the Oldham County Police Department says in many instances 맥스카지노 thieves are targeting unlocked cars 맥스카지노 and stealing cars with keys in them, firearms, and purses.
Investigators say while there hasn't been any recent uptick in car break-ins, this is an ongoing issue.
Police say a group will target cars in one area, take what they want, dump the car, then move to surrounding counties.
The Gregorys suspect the same group that was caught on camera checking cars in Crestwood likely targeted their home and several others in the area.
Not only is this a crime which costs homeowners money, the Gregorys say it could be dangerous for the suspects as well.
"It's hard working people that are taken advantage of. And I mean, I get it, there's kids, but any day one's kids are going to get hurt," Gregory said.
