We spoke with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rawlings, who says it may take until the summer to see the effects of the Trump administration's new plan to bring down egg prices. Rawlins says the USDA has *** 5 point plan bringing more hens into repopulating flocks, removing red tape to help the industry grow, considering temporary egg imports, testing vaccines that protect chickens. And helping farmers prevent the number one reason for their flocks dying and prices rising, the bird flu. The outbreak, which started in 2022, has been the largest factor behind costs, despite prices becoming *** political issue shorthand for inflation during the presidential campaign. So it all went up, but eggs, you know, when, when groceries are going like this, eggs went like this, and there are *** lot of reasons for that. Avian bird flu is. is certainly one of the key drivers, but also overregulation, the increased cost of input, the increased cost of energy, all of that drives our um our goods.
