The Bell Award is given for exceptional volunteer service, however, the Foundation recognized there are so many persons who give back to the community. In order to expand the important message of volunteerism and give area companies and organizations the opportunity to recognize their own employees for volunteer activity, the Honored Volunteer Program was established in 1986. The Foundation allows you to set your criteria and selection method. We only ask that you recognize individuals who currently or in the past have devoted time and energy to volunteer work. The size and structure of your organization may determine your method of selection of employees to be honored. We offer the following suggestions: The CEO selects employees based upon his/her knowledge of employee activities.The formation of a panel or committee to nominate employees. This committee or a designated official of the company can make the final selection.The CEO solicits nominations from department supervisors. A chosen committee or CEO can select honorees from the nominations received.A general call for nominations can be made through in-house publications or communications center. A chosen committee or CEO can select honorees from the nominations received.The CEO works with union officials to determine a system of selection. HOW DOES MY ORGANIZATION PARTICIPATE? Then decide the best method of selecting Honored Volunteers from your organization and determine how many employees you would like to honor. Contact Debbie Roberson with the names of your employees to be honored. Confirm the number of tables/seats you need for the dinner (If an executive from your organization hosts each table and spouses/guests are included in the invitation, a table of ten will allow four employees to be honored.) Provide a copy of your company logo to Debbie Roberson for inclusion in a visual presentation. Certificates and lapel pins will be sent in advance of the dinner.
