UofL and UK baseball both make it into NCAA Tournament
After disappointing ends to their seasons, Kentucky and Louisville baseball are both still headed for the postseason.
This marks Kentucky's third straight appearance in the postseason, while Louisville is back for the first time since 2022.
The Cardinals and Wildcats both got bounced in the first rounds of their conference tournaments, and both teams closed out their last 10 games of the regular season with a chunk of losses that hurt their resumes.
Despite that, both teams landed in the field of 64.
Louisville found its way into the Nashville Regional as the No. 2 seed, while Kentucky is headed to the Clemson Regional as the No. 3 seed.
In regional play, if your team loses twice, they're eliminated. The winner of each Regional will move on to a Super Regional.
Kentucky will start regional play against No. 2 seed West Virginia at 12 p.m. ET on Friday in South Carolina. The Wildcats will play the winner/loser of No. 1 Clemson and No. 4 USC Upstate in the second round of the regional.
The Cardinals will open up regional play against No. 3 seed East Tennessee State University on Friday at 2 p.m. ET. Louisville will play the winner/loser of No. 1 Vanderbilt and No. 4 Wright State in the second round of the regional.
Two other teams from Kentucky, Western Kentucky University and Murray State, also made it into the tournament. They both landed in the Oxford Regional hosted by No. 1 Ole Miss. WKU is the No. 3 seed, while Murray State is the No. 4 seed.
