Sign systems in public institutions are mostly being utilized by public officials and visitors. Such a system must easily and quickly forward information to both men and women. But external signage and internal signage of the public institutions had given the visual reaction such as tightness in character or design which is judged to feel psychological discomfort.
The purpose of this study is to identify the visual pressures from the sign system of public institutions to target the public officials and visitors.
In order to derive the impact on visual pressure, three evaluation factors including identity, communication, readability were deducted and a hypothesis from preceding research "each evaluation factors would affect on visual pressure" has been established.
A survey was carried out to verify a hypothesis in public institutions with the public officials and visitors.
In the result of the survey, among the two evaluation factors, communication and readability were chosen, while identify was dismissed. This means that increase the communication and readability of the sign system on the public institutions in order to reduce the pressure must be installed exactly where it is needed to help visitors without a error in the design or character.
The results of this study are expected to be utilized as a useful basis for study in sign system.
