This study takes the effective allocation scheme of exhibition media required by the urban planning museum as the starting point, which can reflect the needs of visitors for exhibition media. The purpose of the study is to design the exhibition types of the urban planning museum and put forward the design guidelines that reflect the needs of users. Therefore, this paper classifies the exhibition types of urban planning museums, and attempts to analyze the visitors¡¯ understanding of this. The research results are as follows: firstly, through the case analysis, it can be seen that the panel exhibition in the indirect experience exhibition and the touching exhibition in the immediate experience exhibition are the most used. Secondly, when designing the exhibition types of urban planning museums, if we relatively use more specimen exhibitions and reduce the use of panel exhibitions or replace them with other exhibition types, we can obtain good exhibition effects. Thirdly, when planning exhibition types, it is necessary for urban planning museums to reduce the use of indirect experience exhibitions and improve the use of immediate experience exhibitions. Fourthly, the arms operational exhibition needs to be centrally managed, and the material exhibition and voice and image exhibition need to take immediate measures.
Finally, visitors are highly satisfied and important with the type of immediate experience exhibition, so it is necessary to consider actively setting up that type. Based on the results of this study, it is hoped that this study can be used as the basic data for the design of user-centered exhibition types when establishing urban planning museums in the future.
