El sembrar en buena tierra is a comedy published in 1618 and written by Lope. This play, which centers around the love and conflict between young woman and man in Madrid, is written in a very complex structure and believed to be re-publication of Lope¡¯s another play of a similar theme, Quien Todo Lo Quiere, to which the writer seemed to have been highly attached. Nevertheless, this play never received much attention from scholars and almost no in-depth research has been conducted on the play in South Korea or Spain. This study analyzed El Sembrar en Buena Tierra from the viewpoint of comedia de capa y espada, which was highly popular at that time, as an introduction of the play. Comedia de capa y espada is characterized by space and time setting that is similar to the daily life of the audience, social class of the protagonists as middle-class or bourgeoisie that were familiar to the audience, and love and conflict between a man and a woman unfolding in a complicated story structure, and El Sembrar En Buena Tierra reflects all of these characteristics. In other words, the setting of this play consists of actual streets in Madrid and the three couples of protagonists are all young people of leisure class that were prevalent in Madrid at that time, and melodramatic love, jealousy, entanglement, and conflict between the protagonists. Therefore, this play is the most typical example of comedia de capa y espada of the time.
