This paper explores the political elements in Lee Cheong-jun’s short stories and plays which are not included in his complete works published in 2003. The preceding studies focusing on either liberty or equality have common limitations, for they tend to reduce the thoughts on meaning of “political things.” In fact, the issues of liberty and equality cannot be divided dichotomically in his works. His works warn against both cases that the advocation of liberty turns into infinite relativism and that the advocation of equality into concealment of constitutive “others” in the group. His novels reveal that how the “political things” exceeding a political system appear. Further they betray how the “political things” can be controlled by such ruling mechanism as physical violences, quasi-political system, false tolerance hiding violence.????
