This paper aims to examine Jeyuk Jaejas? (The Sixth Genius Book, ���������ӕ���) marked ��Edition in the Collection of Geumkokwon (��Ȉ@�ذ�)�� which is in the collection of the K?nkuk University Library in Korea, to study Jos?n literary men��s methods of criticizing S?sanggi (or Xixiangji, Romance of the West Chamber, ������ӛ��). And for this purpose, I compared closely, with those of writers from the Qing dynasty, Jos?n literary men��s commentaries on S?sanggi written in Jeyuk Jaejas? ���������ӕ��� which is in the collection of K?nkuk University.
The following three characteristics are shown in the criticism of S?sanggi of the writers who wrote the commentaries on Jeyuk Jaejas? which is in the collection of K?nkuk University.
First, the subjunctive mood was frequently used in the commentaries of Jos?n literary men. The frequent use of the subjunctive mood can be seen in relation to the writer��s viewpoint of the fiction. In other words, through using the subjunctive mood, the writer treated the affairs in the work as if they really had happened.
Second, the writer often wrote personal sentiments. This is because the writer placed importance on the subtle feelings that occurred in his mind while appreciating the work.
Third, the writer quoted verse from various books including scripture. In particular, quoting scripture in criticism can be attributed to the writer��s intention to break the boundary between the realm of ��the elegant �š� and the realm of ��the secular ��.��
