Chosun missionary dispatched after 1884's coup was constructed by conservative Confucianists as compared former missionary. They were not able to understand Westernization clearly, so they felt more comfortable when with Chinese people than Meiji Japanese. And they tried to hold a prominent position as a Confucianist and man whenever they met strange modern civilization. Although Meiji Japan reported and made their image as old-fashioned in newspaper, they actually knew civilization and enlightenment would rule the world. However, they saw in Meiji Japan people who suffer extreme poverty because of a tax burden and nature controlled by human-being for so called the intellectual rationalization. Also they recognized dimly Western capitalism which money talks and be needed for "national state" environment(e.g. train, telegram, newspaper and so on) investment. Ironically, through this study I think people who lived in the past or pre-modern could be implications for us studying modernity in post-modern in someway.
