Discussions have been continuously made over the time quantity phrases, but the usages and functions have not been exactly apprehended since they mainly focused on the characteristics of each syntactic component and the word order constraints in the sentences range. Therefore this study tries to inquire into the different usages and functions of the structures of V+O+C and V+C+O from a text-linguistic point of view. We found that the structures of V+O+C and V+C+O each has its advantages and plays a unique role in discourse. The sentence patterns or the word order of the time quantity phrases is closely related to the context, in other words, the discourse logic semantic cohesion and effect of expression is the restraining factor to the selection of sentence patterns.????
