디자인씽킹을 활용한 장애인 권리의 기호를 담은 조형작품 제작과정연구 (The Production Process of Sculpture with the Symbols of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Using Design Thinking)

사회 구성원으로 장애인이 비장애인과 평등한 입장에서 공존하기에는 참여의 기회부터 제한적이다. 현대인의 시민의식과 현실의 배타적 입장은 장애인들을 아직도 사회적 약자로 치부한다. 이런 불균형은 꾸준히 사회적 논쟁거리가 되고 있으나 개선은 미진하다. 이 같은 사회문제개선을 위한 진정성 있는 동참과 공존을 위한 다방면의 노력이 꾸준히 이루어지지 않는다면 사회의 신뢰가 무너지는 중대한 문제가 야기될 수 있다. 그런 이유로 장애인의 권리왿� 공존이라는 키워드를 전달할 공공성 있는 상징체가 필요하다. 이러한 상징체의 표상화를 위해 본 연구에서는 시각적 메시지 전달성이 높은 조형작품을 매개체로 정하고 그 과정으로 ‘공감하기’에 중점이 맞춰진 디자인씽킹 프로세스를 선택해 사회적 문제점을 기호적 의미로 해석, 장애인의 인권과 공존이라는 시민적 가치에 대한 공감도를 높였다. 시각화된 상징체의 파급력 있는 의미작용 기능을 기대하기 위해서는 공감대의 형성이 우선 되어야 한다. 본 연구는 의미체계를 전달하는 상징체로 조형작품을 제작함에 디자인씽킹 프로세스의 각 단계에 적절한 방법론과 도구를 활용해 기호를 도출하고 반영한 작품화 과정을 기술하였다. 참여왿� 관찰을 통한 공감하기로 도출한 문제점을 아이디어화 하는 단계에서 기호학적 의미해석과 적용의 프로세스를 발현하고 이를 통해 시각적 텍스트를 도출하는 단계를 거쳐 작품을 구성하였다. 이 같은 과정을 통한 결과물이 소비자, 즉 작품감상자에게 공감과 감명을 유도해 낼 수 있었고 특히 아이디어화 단계에서 기호학적 의미해석을 적용한 텍스트의 구체적인 형태화가 현실적으로 작품을 시각화하는 데 매우 유용하였다는 경험적 결론을 도출하였다. 이 같은 연구 프로세스가 작품을 디자인하는 현장의 작가들에게 도움이 되기를 바라며 아울러 장애인의 인권과 공감에 대한 새로운 인식을 본 연구의 결과물인 조형작품을 통해 전언하고자 한다.

As a member of society, the opportunity for the disabled to coexist in an equal position with the non-disabled is limited from the disabled. The citizenship of modern people and the exclusive position of reality still dismiss the disabled as socially disadvantaged. This imbalance is constantly becoming a social issue, but improvement is insufficient. Unless sincere participation and multi-faceted efforts for coexistence are made steadily to improve such social problems, a serious problem can arise that the trust of society is destroyed. For that reason, there is a need for a public symbol that will deliver the keyword of rights and coexistence of the disabled. In order to represent these symbols, this study selected sculptures with high visual message delivery as a medium and selected a design thinking process focused on "sympathy" as a process to interpret social problems in a symbolic sense, enhancing the consensus on the civil value of human rights and coexistence of the disabled. In order to expect the ripple effect function of visualized symbols, the formation of consensus must be prioritized. This study described the process of drawing and reflecting symbols using methodologies and tools appropriate for each stage of the design thinking process in producing sculptural works with symbols that convey the semantic system. In the stage of ideating the problems derived by empathy through participation and observation, the work was constructed through the stage of expressing the process of semiotic semantic interpretation and application, and deriving visual text through this. The results of this process were able to induce empathy and impression to consumers, that is, viewers of the work, and in particular, it was very useful to visualize the work in reality. I hope that this research process will help writers in the field who design works, and I would like to convey a new perception of the human rights and empathy of the disabled through sculptural works, which are the results of this study.
