Shin Chae-Ho participated in the government-in-exile based in Shanghai, however, he experienced discord because he opposed Syngman Rhee¡¯s ¡°theory of mandatory administration¡± and he broke with the government-in-exile, and then began publication of ¡°Sindaehan¡± and held the position of its editor in chief. In the paper he advocated ¡°construction through destruction¡± and practiced an independence movement through the press. ¡°Sindaehan¡± ceased its publication without publishing the 20th edition because of friction and conflict with the government-in-exile based in Shanghai, the Japanese agent¡¯s plot, etc.
In addition, he carried out the substantial independence movement as the head of ¡°Daedong Young Men¡¯s Association¡± and ¡°Daehan Independence Young Men¡¯s Association¡±, and a deputy chief of ¡°Sindaehan Allied Association¡±, and through his participation in ¡°Bohabdan - an army for national independence¡±. Particularly, his strong and firm logic had a great effect on patriots in and outside the country and contributed to the propagation and spread of the independence movement. It seems that his thought and editorials had a considerable influence on the activities for independence of the Buddhist monks like Shin Sang-Wan, Kim Bong-Sin, etc. Particularly, it seems that he provided a head start of the formation of a declaration of the volunteer army composed of the monks which Shin Sang-Wan tried to organize. It is very meaningful in the point that materials discovered in Jinkwansa temple this time provided grounds that could reveal his activities a little more minutely, that is, new materials about Danjae were discovered this time as well as they made it possible to grasp new aspects of his activities. The first to the third edition of ¡°Sindaehan¡± made it possible to confirm a little more concretely his independence movement which was not known satisfactorily so far.
