There are some Korean words written with chinese characters in adapted novel, Ssang-ok-ru by Jung-hwan, Jo. This paper aims to observe and describe elaborately how many words of that were listed in three dictionaries, 1st edition(1897), 2nd edition(1911), and 3rd edition(1931) of Han-yeong-ja-dyeon by Gale. Besides, we examine change of social position of each words during about 35 years. Non-listed words that accounted for 75.2% in 1st edition had listed steadily in 2nd and 3rd edition. It means these words needed a long time for institutionalization in a speech community. 87.8% of total 311 words became acceptable words in speech community of 1931(3rd edition of Han-yeong-ja-dyeon), which is period after about 20 years from 1913(Ssang-ok-ru).????
