This paper aims to describe and explain the distribution and function of adverb ��tto�� and ��ttohan�� diachronically. Some Korean grammarians have argued that both ��tto(?)�� and ��ttohan(??)�� are sentence adverb, however, I argued that ��ttohan�� functions as both sentence adverb and constituent adverb. Also I suggested that constituent adverb ��ttohan�� is very similar to many quantity adverbs such as adverbs ��ta(?)��, ��modeun(??)�� etc. In earlier Korean, constituent adverb ��ttohan�� is widely observed and it is oriented from ��yeok han(��??)��. At the earlier stage, adverb ��tto�� functioned as sentence adverb mostly, however adverb ��ttohan�� functioned as constituent adverb. Constituent adverb ��tto�� is also observed but not observed as much as constituent adverb ��ttohan��. I argued that the distribution of sentence adverb ��tto�� has been narrowed because the functional load of sentence adverb ��ttohan�� had been increased gradually. As a result, adverb ��tto�� and ��ttohan�� were considered as similar adverbs.
