Considering this trend, Kuekyeon¡¯s entry into film is related to the intention of strengthening cultural hegemony. In the same context, attention can be paid to the background in which Yoo Chi-jin¡¯s scenario Dosaengrok was created. Thanks to the success of Chunhyangjeon, he developed the concept of ¡°romanticism based on realism¡±. Yoo emphasized the limitations of realism and insisted on romanticism as an alternative to it, but he also sensed that realism still functions as a strong symbolic capital within the discourse fields of the time. As a result, he tried to prove the possibility of a chemical combination between realism and romanticism. Dosaengrok, created at a time when the first film Aryeonsong of the film department of Kuekyeon was struggling, was the result of this problem consciousness. However, Dosaengrok was neglected by both the literary and the film scene, and Yoo lost the power of creation, and the Kuekyeon, which lost its vitality, was forced to enter the path of dissolution.
