This paper is written to review the life and artistic achievements of Pansori Master Singer, Cho£­Wol, Park. The findings of this research are as follows.
First, Mrs. Park¡®s life was molded through interviews, on£­site researches and various written materials. Her overall life is reviewed by understanding by how she started to learn Pansori when she was young and her life when Japan was ruling Korea, namely whom she was taught by and who she taught.
Second, Her musical identity is revealed by reviewing the characteristics of her words and her musical ideology as used in her songs. Her musical esthetics is best highlighted by her high£­tone voice based on the sad sound technique in Pansori. In words of her songs, we can see her view of the world in which she minimizes humor and sociality. <HungBo£­Ga> and <SooGoong£­Ga> are works that representatively that demonstrate her musical views.
Third, Her teaching and educational ideals can be summarized as 'creative transmission' and 'dedication to teaching disciples'. She made her own versions flexible, and she prepared the next generations of Pansori by educating numerous disciples.
Fourth, Mrs. Park was also one of the earliest pioneers who did her best to modernize and, popularize Pansori in Modern Koran history. She not only transcripted many Pansori songs to paper but also she had a leading role in globalizing Pansori in the world through her concerts.
She made great contribution to Korea by introducing and teaching college students forms of Pansori. Her activities are so progressive that she has an impact on the Korean Pansori culture.
Pansori Master Singer, Cho£­Wol, Park was a representative person who does her very best as an artist, educator, and a social leader in Korea. We should pay continuous attention to her achievements because they may present us the past, the present, and the future forms of Pansori.
