In analytic aesthetics, discussions on ¡®aesthetic property¡¯ has mainly focused on the following two subjects, ¡®aesthetic supervenience¡¯ and ¡®aesthetic property realism vs. anti-realism¡¯. One of the questions that combines these two subjects together is ¡®How should I, as a realist(or anti-realist), deal with aesthetic supervenience?¡¯ In this paper, I observe that there are four responses to this question, which are 1) the realist rejection of aesthetic supervenience, 2) the realist acceptance of aesthetic supervenience, 3) the anti-realist rejection of aesthetic supervenience, and 4) the anti-realist acceptance of aesthetic supervenience. After this analysis, I show that there is an assumption used by all the four positions, which is that aesthetic supervenience is incompatible with the phenomenon of aesthetic disagreement. This assumption, however, can be denied if we accept Currie¡¯s idea of aesthetic supervenience, which is that the relation of supervenience exists between the perception of a work¡¯s aesthetic property and the cognitive mental state caused by the work. The implication of this fact is that Currie¡¯s theory of aesthetic supervenience can allow both realists and anti-realists to avoid the original question which unnecessarily has complicated the debate.
