Unlike Western press, Chinese media, which is under state control, has played an important role in instigating Chinese communists¡¯ ideology and political purposes. Therefore, it reflect changing complexion in Chinese society through catching up with development of politics, economy, society and culture.
For this reason, Chinese press can be regarded as a mirror that reflects totality of Chinese society. Thus, analyzing a Chinese press enables us to clarify change of its society. In detail, this paper selects the people¡¯s Daily which is the largest newspaper in China and the official organ of the Chinese community party as a research subject. Especially, this research endeavored to analysis changing pattern of Chinese news report by focusing on two different timelines such as before (1999-2000)-and-after (2014-2015) G2 periods.
The results of research are as follow. Front-page articles in the people¡¯s Daily has emphasized on politics regardless of pre or post G2 periods (time differences). The reason of this could be explained as several points. For example, the people¡¯s Daily has endeavored to protect and publicize Chinese government. Furthermore, it could be analyzed that Xi Jinping¡¯s political influence is strengthened compare to former political leaders of China.
Although political articles are regarded as important news both before and after G2 periods in China, there are differences to deal with other issues in the newspaper during two different time line. That is, the volume of economic news dramatically reduced while the number of administrative article significantly increased. This means that Chinese government focuses on administrative issues such as law abidance and reforming public officials¡¯ consciousness rather than economic achievement.
The result of this research provides several implications. 'Government by law' and 'reform consciousness' are became the most important value rather than old custom called as Guanxi in Chinese society through formulating policies for 'governing the nation according to law' under Xi Jinping administration. To us, for this reason, preparing a countermeasure is crucial for enhancing business and non-business exchanges in changed Chinese market environment.
