This thesis aims to study on Lee, Myeong-seon's perception of Korean Literature. Lee entered the GyeongSeong imperial college at 1934. He studied Korean Literature, and also deliberated the methodology of study about Korean Literature from 1934 to 1940. They were the positivism and the utilitarianism.
The main stream of methodology was the positivism, but Lee selected the utilitarianism as the method of study on Korean Literature. Of course he, even if partly, was inclined to positivism. This fact could be found that he collected oral tales and children's songs and published the¡¸Yiyagi¡¹and¡¸Children's songs of Choseon¡¹
After 1945, Lee understood the Korean Literature as methods of communist revolution. The revolutional literature based on common people. It was a sort of popular literature and also national literature. And also, it was the literature of anti-imperialism and the literature against the external invasions. It was the hope of new Choseon to him.
