This study reviewed the novels dealing with the overseas activities of socialist activists as a series of international movement narratives created from the late 1920s to the early 1930s. The novels of this series feature activists who are active in a wider world outside of East Asia, being enough to be called 'activist cosmopolitan novels'. In particular, Song Young and Lee Hyo-seok's novels are developed in such a way that they either express longing for Russia as an advanced space where socialism is realized, or deal with various events taking place in a 'foreign country' as a space of movement. The birth of a fictional space-time called 'foreign country' comes from 'longing' for a world where socialist movement is possible and a desire to 'transcend' from the reality of colonial Joseon here and now. Therefore, these novels are idealistic and romantic from the point of view of reflecting reality, but when focusing on the aspect of literary imagination in the periphery, their romanticity takes on ideological and political colors. Meanwhile, within the narrative, 'Love and Friendship' acts as an initiative that enables the protagonists of this novel to be reborn as true socialist cosmopolitans. The love and friendship shared with foreigners become the basis for international solidarity, and become a factor in positioning the protagonists as internationalists. Exotic love and friendship shared with foreigners is a ritual in the novel that socialists experience in the process of change and transition, creating romance in terms of the content of the novel and the romantic at this time can be considered political.
