This article considers the tomb of Dongshu(??), who served under Emperor Mo Yonghuang(Ľ�ݰ�), and examines the Buddhist significance of the mural paintings in Anak 3 tomb. The structure of Anak 3 and the subject of the mural can be found in the genealogy of mural tombs in the Yuyuan(�| �) region of the Wei Jin(κ�x) period, but the ceiling of the lantern-loof is not found in the Yuyuan region. In other words, although it was built under the influence of the mural tomb of Fomer Yan, it is a pre-existing cultural tradition under the influence of Nakrang(����).
In the portrait of master, Dongsu is shown as a prestigious aristocrat sitting on Three Leg Leaning table and holding a fan(zum)i, an object of Pure Discourse during the Wei Jin Period. However, it is noteworthy that his face and posture are those of a Buddha, and the lotus flower on is decorated with a lotus flower. We know that lotus flowers were decorated on the top curtains for wooden bench in the 3rd and 4th centuries, as the the top curtains for wooden bench of the emperor Shokyok(ʯ��) of the Later Zhao(���w) dynasty during the Sixteen Kingdoms period of China which were cultivated by the Western monk Buldojing(���D��), were also decorated with actual lotus flowers. Given that Buldojing blooms blue lotus flowers when he educates Shakyamuni to recognize the Buddha's world, we can see that lotus flowers were recognized as the Buddha and the path to enlightenment.
On the painting of Anak tomb 3, there is an almond-shaped lotus with a Y inscribed on the left and right of curtain, a lotus in full bloom in the center, and an eight-lobed lotus on the curtain of flat chair. In this article, we interpret this as the Lotus Flower Life, where life is born from the lotus flower. The almond-shaped lotus was found at the Geumryeong Historic Site (�������z۔��), which is believed to be a temple in Former Yan. At the Geumryeong Historic Site, the lotus flower bud is carved with a radiation-like protrusion, while the almond-shaped lotus flower bud with a symbolized Y appears in roof tiles of Goguryeo, including those from curtain of the Three Leg Leaning table.
Considering that the Buddhism of Moyonghwang built the Yongsang Buddhist Temple(�������) , which is connected to the dragon belief, it is understood that Dongsu also had a Buddhist belief system that merged with Taoism.
