Kim Hak-Moo graduated from Eunjin Middle School in Longjing, and then participated in an independence movement under Kim Goo. He studied in Luoyang Military Academy and National Central University in Nanking and was a member of the Counter Intelligence Corps for National Independence established by Kim Goo. He who had leaned toward communism participated in ¡°Revolutionary Comrades Association¡±. He left the line of Kim Goo in 1936, and then participated in Korean National Revolutionary Party. He was bred to arms in Xingzi branch of the Central Military Academy after the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War in 1937. At that time he organized a communist body, Korea Youth Avant-garde Alliance with Choi Chang-Ik and others and led the organization, and then left Korean National Revolutionary Party led by Kim Won-Bong. He participated in Korean Volunteer Corps in 1938. Playing an active part in Korean Volunteer Corps as a political team leader and a commander, he led the left youth group.
As Korean Volunteer Corps decided to advance into Huabei region, he moved northward to Taihang Mountain in the summer of 1941 and played an active part in Huabei branch of Korean Volunteer Corps as a political leader from July, 1941. In July, 1942 Korean Independence Alliance in Huabei was formed and Huabei branch of Korean Volunteer Corps was reorganized as Huabei branch of Korean Volunteer Army. As he took a leading role in Avant-garde Alliance and Korean Volunteer Corps, he was named a member of central executive committee and also a member of central permanent committee of korean Independence Alliance. And also he performed the position of a propaganda manager of Korean Independence Alliance and the position of the chief of school affairs of Korean Youth Revolutionary School in Huabei. At this time he wrote History of Modern Korean Revolutionary Movement which was organized from the viewpoint of the materialistic conception of history on modern history of Korea.
Chinese Communist Party started the rectification movement to seize Independence Alliance and Korean Volunteer Army from the beginning of 1943. As he was involved in bodies for independence movement related to Kuomintang, he who was not free from the rectification movement tried to connect himself to the group of Korean independence movement in Chungking in the viewpoint of the national unified front movement. After his moving northward from Chungking in 1943, his whereabouts were unknown. It is guessed that he was killed in the battle with Japanese soldiers in May, 1943. As Korean Independence Alliance considered his behaviors as betrayal, it seems, there were no record about his death and no discussion about him after Korea¡¯s liberation in spite of his position in Korean Volunteer Corps and Korean Independence Alliance.
