Na Geum-choo is one of the famous performers in the history of Honam Woodo Nongak. Buponoleum is a performance in the solo-type that uses Buposangmo to display art and dance and this is the cluster of competency of Na Geum-choo performances. In 1950s, under the situation where the settlement of democratic political system was settling down and the women¡¯s education for social advancement of ¡®people¡¯ was expanding, Na Geum-choo, a woman artist in Nongak (farm music), had grown. Absence of patriarch system caused by the Korean War, drastic increase of women to society, moderation of women¡¯s control and prevalence of female Gukkeuk (Korean women¡¯s national musical drama) also worked as the factor in time for Na Geum-choo to learn and engage in activities.
Na Geum-choo learned dance to Han Jin-ok of Gwangju Gukak Center, Goenggari (traditional percussion instrument) to female artists of Namwon Gukak Center as they were looked down as Giesaeng, and Jeong-eup Nongak to male artists of hereditary shaman sector in Jeon-gup. The accumulated competency from this type of learning is concentrated to display in Buponoleum of Na Geum-choo with Nongak works structured with the method conforming to the modern and contemporary theatrical stage. Therefore, Buponoleum of Na Geum-choo can be said as the byproduct displayed by blending with the culture of hereditary shaman and Gwonbeon in culture of theater along with the farming culture contained within Nongak
