    This study aims to analyze the crisis of the energy-climate era systematically and deduct the obligations of democratic citizenship education and propose the alternative of it. For this purpose, This study paid attention to the two crises of climate change and energy and had a new understanding and restructured developmentally the theory of 'Energy-Climate Era' presented by Thomas Friedman from the point of the democratic citizenship education. Going one step forward, This study deducted the obligations of democratic citizenship education. The obligations of democratic citizenship education of deducted by this study are as follows;(1) Reorganizing of the citizenship education(2) Cultivating of the green citizen(3) Developing of the program of the democratic citizenship education of elementary school(4) Nurturing of the intelligence of nature friendship and the consciousness of biosphere. Besides, This study proposed the orientation, goal, contents, method of the democratic citizenship education. These are based on the crisis of the energy climate era and the obligations of democratic citizenship education analyzed by this study.
