This paper investigated the effect of noticing(note-taking and underlining) during referring a model text on rewriting and next writing of 28 advanced learners of L2 Korean. Participants were divided by three groups(note-taking, underlining, and controlled with no specific noticing activity)wrote an essay based on the tables about the trend of living alone. The study found that (i) participants noticed vocabulary and expression, content, and grammar in order in the draft and first rewriting, (ii) after referring a model text, the scores of every rewriting were significantly increased, (iii) However, no significant discrepancy was shown between two groups of noticing, indicating that a way of noticing does not effect on he improvement of rewriting, (iv) finally, there was a significant improvement in the next writing in underlining group, but no improvement in note-taking and controlled groups. Consequently, this study revealed the encouraging findings that a model text and a particular way of noticing gave positive effect on the writing of advanced learners of L2 Korean.
