The purpose of this study is to examine the current status of financial education with Japanese government learning guidelines. Financial education in elementary schools deals with the importance of goods or money, consumption within budget, and planned use of pocket money, and financial education in middle schools focuses on enhancing understanding of households' income and expenditure. Financial education in high school deals with balanced payments management, being conscious of the entire household. The revision of these guidelines is related to developing Japan's economic policy. Historically, Japan's departure from financial education is related to economic policy development. Financial education in Japan began during the post-war economic revival. Financial education developed from the post-war savings promotion movement duirng the economic revival in the 1950s, the planned savings encouragement in the 1960s, publicizing financial products in the 1980s, and the acquisition of financial literacy in the 2000s. Through this process, it can be seen that the government has been leading financial education. As a result, the curriculum was revised at the national level as a part of the national strategy for economic recovery by inducing investment from savings.
