Seck Oh Kwen Bong-hee was an official and a man of letters at the end of the Han dynasty. He was so worried about the internal contradiction of the Chos?n dynasty and was afraid of the Western power conquering the East that he wrote about these several times to the King. Despite of his effort, according to complicated conditions between the Old and the New powers and their party interests his perspective was not properly accepted rather he was exiled because of this. As he was living his rough life, he didn't intend to be a government employ no more and he came back to his hometown enjoying scenery and literature.
He tried to be a government employ to realize his ideal, but his vision did not coincided with the reality that he sublimed his inner thoughts into his poems. The left of his poems are not many, but those are valuable materials to understand his life because those contain his substantial ideas at his critical moment.
Through this thesis I analyzed his life in five parts according to his literal career. The first part is the beginning of his official life which reveals his attitude toward his job. The second part is the working period when he expressed his concerns about his country which was bounded into a massive war through internal and external state of affairs. The third part is the period of exile in Huck Shan Island. His inmost heart was explained in the poems written in Huck Shan Island, especially in <Huck Shan Pal Young>. The fourth part is the period when he quitted his job. He felt uncomfortable about the custom, braking the faith. The fifth part is the studying period that after he had gave up his job and stayed at his hometown. he concentrated on his study particularly the Nammyung who lived in the same place as him that he showed his respect to him in the poetry.
