The Gyeongsang region was the center of Buddhism and publishing activities. Therefore, it is natural that large quantities of publications have been produced and circulated in this area. This study focused on publishing activities in this region. In particular, the study focused on printing and publishing activities in Gyeongsang Province, in particular on the activities of Buddhist scriptures, especially Buddhist scriptures belonging to Buddhist temples. In addition, we examined the activities of Bongjeongsa Temple, a major Buddhist temple in Gyeongsang Province, Kwangseongsa Temple, Buseoksa Temple, and Bogwangsa Temple. In particular, it was reviewed in detail because it also account for a large portion of the publication activities. That is the review of the Bubokjang of the Goryeo Dynasty which was held in Bogwangsa Temple, and the publication activities of GangKyeongdongam in Andong and Sangju area.
As a result, this study shows the overall status of publications, the publication pattern and frequency of Buddhist books in the Gyeongsang provinces.
This kind of studies can be used as a basis for identifying the activities of the Gyeongsang province, the publication trends and characteristics of publication. In addition, it will be an indicator of the publication activity of Gyeongsang provinces.
