The prayer to mountain spirit at Sambat-ridge is one of Ten Aspects of the Founding Master. It has important significance by itself, however, for not profound related resource, research and explanation, it needs to supplement materials and to expand understanding.
Considering the circumstances of the time, as far as writer can judge the folklore materials are useful; those materials are arranged in detail.
While surveying on annual ancestral feast and mountain spirit feast, it is found out that mountain spirit feast has distinction to prayer to mountain spirit. Tracing the distinction, mode of prayer in folklore belief has re-investigated. It has clarified that prayer in mountain and devotion to mountain of shamanism has methodological similarity.
It also pointed out that the process of choosing prayer to mountain spirit was not accidental, but necessary, by three-dimensional analyzation of circumstances of being eleven years old child Jin-Sub faced.
The prayer to mountain spirit at Sambat-ridge was only choice and method under the mentality of Jin-Sub and atmosphere of folklore at the time. In the process research, shamanism, folklore belief, mountain spirit belief and its idea, and materials of mountain spirit folk tale was thoroughly consulted. Finally, it mentioned on the significance of folklore study and assignment for Won-Buddhist studies on afterwards.
