A Qualitative Study on Golf University Students Campus Life

[Purpose] This study was conducted to investigate the school life of the students attending Korea Golf University (KGU) in a qualitative study design. In particular, it is intended to examine the campus of the students living a compulsory dorm life, find out what kind of culture students majoring in golf form during the college years, and interpret it from a sociocultural perspective. [Method] Participation were selected 8 students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, and the raw data thus collected were analyzed using inductive categorization methodology, followed by classification by domain. [Result] First, students' school life consisted of attending classes to improve golf skills and improving golf skills by using school facilities. Second, students experienced the process of learning roles, attitudes, norms, and rules through living in a dormitory. Third, in the process of improving golf knowledge and skills, students created a unique culture unique to golf-specialized colleges through club activities, school life during vacation, and player incubation. [Conclusion] Through the dormitory life, the students went through the process of changing the golf player's unique individualistic tendency to communitarianism.
